From 1999 through 2008, the artist, Sonoko Sugiyama, and I created a series of paintings, drawings and photo collages where we used our own bodies as templates for abstract imagery. We traced each other's body multiple times with charcoal on industrial canvas. we then each mixed up various colors of oil paint with a medium of turpentine, varnish and linseed oil and painted within our drawing on the unprimed canvases. These abstract paintings have been shown in New York in the National Arts Club, various downtown galleries and in a jazz club.
